Despite their hard work, the family’s income is insufficient to meet even their most basic needs, and they endure harsh living conditions. They have no access to potable water due to the high levels of agrochemical contamination in the area, leaving Doña Eugenia and her grandchildren suffering from chronic health issues such as diarrhea and parasitic infections. Even houses still under control of banana companies pose a constant danger to workers' families, as they are often arbitrarily evicted without justification, leaving them on the streets with no opportunities.
